Duane Swainston
For El Cajon City Council
El Cajon City Council Platform
I will bring new ideas, a new focus, and new energy to the city council. I will take a conservative approach to managing the city's Budget. I plan to recruit new business along with bringing consumers back to El Cajon. There are some good things happening in El Cajon currently but I will make sure it is done “better, faster, and cheaper”. I have a business background and real world experience in getting things completed on schedule and to budget.
What do people think of when they hear El Cajon? What does El Cajon mean?
El Cajon means the box. What do people visualize when they hear “the box”?
Is it big cardboard moving boxes?
If so, that tends to have negative connotations. Nobody wants to move or help people move. That’s one of the most dreaded and laborious chores one can find.
But if you take the box and put a little decoration on the outside and something of value inside then what do you have?
It’s a present.
Presents make people happy and smile. My goal is to make El Cajon into that present that people are happy about. People want a city where they feel safe, that is affordable, that has economic opportunities, and has activities for them and their children. My Plan will focus on all these issues.
